Your destination

As an Automation Engineer in the Engineering Department, you will be responsible for the development and integration of automation systems that drive our advanced composite manufacturing processes. You’ll work with all the engineering teams to develop, implement, and optimize PLC-based control systems and robotic workflows. Your focus will be on programming and hardware integration using Siemens and Beckhoff platforms, as well as ABB robotics, enabling high-precision and scalable manufacturing solutions. 

Your Mission

Automation & Control Development:

  • Design and implement closed-loop automation solutions for composite manufacturing equipment (e.g., thermoplastic composite welding, RTM), leveraging sensor feedback for real-time control.

  • Program and configure Siemens PLC systems using TIA Portal and/or TwinCAT 3.

  • Interface PLC systems with ABB robotics hardware using ProfiNET and EtherCAT protocols.

 Hardware integration:

  • Strengthen the collaboration with our integrator partner.

  • Integrate and operate ABB robotic systems using RobotStudio Suite.

  • Prepare and integrate a variety of hardware components including sensors, actuators, computer vision systems, and control panels.

  • Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of automation systems.

 Industrialisation/digitalisation:

  • Acquire, process, and analyze data from automation and sensor systems to support performance optimization and traceability.

  • Develop and maintain production documentation and system architecture.

  • Ensure automation systems comply with relevant safety standards and aerospace regulations.

  • Support the company’s industrial ramp-up by driving digitalization initiatives across manufacturing systems.


Your luggage

To succeed in this role, you bring a passion for automation and a hands-on mindset. You thrive in high-tech environments and enjoy solving complex challenges. You are a team player with a proactive attitude and a strong sense of ownership. In addition, you have:

  • BSc / MSc / BEng in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field

  • Ideally 5 years of experience in industrial automation (strong candidates with 3+ years and relevant expertise will also be considered)

  • Proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal and Beckhoff TwinCAT 3

  • Experience with hardware preparation and sensor integration

  • Knowledge of ABB RobotStudio and MS Access is a plus

  • CAD modelling skills (preferably in SolidWorks) for hardware layout or system integration are a plus

  • Excellent command of English

  • Residency in the Netherlands with a valid work permit
