Composite Repair and Quality Engineer
Your Mission
You will be joining our dedicated team as Composite Repair & Quality Engineer. This dual-role position combines hands-on engineering of composite repairs with active quality and safety system support.
The (temporary) engineering role is designed to equip the future quality and safety staff with a solid understanding of KVE’s field of expertise.
The ideal candidate has a strong interest in aircraft maintenance, composite technologies, and aerospace quality systems, with the ambition to grow into a leadership role in Quality Management. Your key responsibilities are:
Role 1: Composite Component Maintenance & Engineering
Perform damage assessments, technical inspections, and analyse repair options on composite aircraft components.
Define and execute repair strategies in accordance with OEM manuals, engineering drawings, and EASA Part-145 standards.
Document repairs and collaborate with engineering and production to improve KVE’s repair performance and tooling.
Provide input on root cause investigations related to component failures or recurring issues.
Support process improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
Engineering goals to be reached in first year:
Be able to understand the setup of and use aircraft maintenance manuals.
Become familiar with mostly used repair techniques and materials.
Grow from junior to senior engineer.
Implement continuous improvement processes on the work floor.
Help to improve (personal) safety on the work floor.
Role 2: Quality & Safety Assurance Support
Assist in preparing, scheduling, and executing internal and external audits (EASA, customer, internal).
Maintain and update Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management System (SMS) documentation.
Support in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and follow up on non-conformities.
Maintain calibration logs, training records, compliance documentation, and audit findings.
Help monitor compliance with EASA Part-145, Part-M, and internal MOE procedures.-
Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives and represent the company during customer and authority audits.
Quality goals to be reached in first year:
Review and re-write the Q-manual in the first half year. Each subject should contain flow-charts that make the QMS easier to understand and explain. Per chapter there shall be teaching material developed to train the use of the Q manual.
Be able to perfectly understand and explain the compliance matrix.
Understand and maintain the KPI’s of both QMS and SMS.
Your Luggage
Technical degree (Bachelor degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or related)
Experience or strong interest in composite materials, repairs, or MRO environments.
Familiarity with EASA Part-145 regulations and aircraft maintenance procedures.
Attention to detail, strong organization, and a hands-on, proactive mindset.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Proficient with MS Office and QMS tools (Excel, Word, ERP, audit tracking platforms).
Excellent communication skills; capable of working cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous exposure to composite repair processes (e.g., prepreg, wet lay-up, autoclave).
Experience in quality/compliance roles in aviation, automotive, or regulated industries.
Exposure to audits, non-conformance management, or CAPA tracking.
Working knowledge of root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
Ambition to grow into either a Quality Manager or Engineering Lead role.
